♡ Easy Frankenstein Nails for Halloween ♡

I can only apologise for how sparse my posts have been lately. Sixth form suddenly became very stressful and I ended up being bombarded with work and had no time to post (Taking 5 a-levels was not a good idea).
I have been taking lots of picture for upcoming posts though, so I have everything sorted for the next few weeks. It's also half term so I have a bit more time to blog. Yay.

I've been having a little bit of interest on my Halloween nail tutorial from last year I thought I would do one this year too. I love painting my nails for holidays like this, I can't wait until Christmas is close so I can do some Christmas inspired nails. I had lots of compliments on this nail design at school, which I was surprised about because it was so easy to create. I took inspiration from this photo on google images.

How To...

  1. Apply your favorite nail polish base, I used Essie's Nail Foundation.
  2. Apply an opague layer of green nail polish. The one I used is discontinued sorry.
  3. Using the end of a bobby pin and some black nail polish draw a horizontal line and smaller vertical lines over it as the mouth.
  4. Then at the base of your nail draw wavy lines using black polish and the same end of the bobby pin to create his hair.
  5. Then using the other end of the bobby pin and some white polish (or pale pink as I used because I had no white) dab on small circles for the eyes.
  6. Then using a bobby pin and black polish dab a smaller black circle inside the previous one.
  7. Cover with your favorite top coat. I used Sally Hansen's Double Duty.
See, I told you it was easy. I hope you all liked this quick and easy tutorial and I would love to know if you would like me to do more nail tutorials, I really enjoy doing them.

What are you all doing for Halloween? I promise to be a better blogger over the upcoming weeks!

☼ Marina Diamandis Inspired Daisy Nails | Summer Nail Tutorial ☼

Hello everyone.
I haven't done a nail tutorial or nail post for such a long time which is strange because I love painting my nails and creating cute designs on them. This tutorial, or step by step guide, probably won't be anything new but I loved this design and just really wanted to share it with you all. I also haven't seen a tutorial on this exact nail design.

I was inspired to create this design by Marina Diamandis from Marina and the Diamonds. I adore her and her new album "Electra Heart" and she's become a little bit of a style icon of mine at the moment. I saw a very similar design on her whilst I was watching a video of her singing one of her newer songs. I recently re-watched the video and realised it wasn't daises she had on her nails they were sunflowers so look out for that tutorial soon!  As soon as I saw it I knew I needed to re-create it. Obviously mine isn't be as polished and perfect as hers but I was pleased with the results and received lots of compliments. I think this design is perfect for summer and It'll definitely be my "go-to" nail design when I want something extra special on my nails because it's so quick and simple.

Sorry about the rubbish quality, having computer-camera problems so I had to upload this from instagram
Step by Step Guide
  • Firstly, apply a base coat to your nails to protect the nail from any damage or staining from the coloured polish. I used the No7 'So Smooth' Base Coat.
  • Apply a pastel or light blue shade as the base colour. You can use any colour for this but Marina used blue and I liked it. Apply in thin layers until the colour is opaque. I used the No7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Minty Fresh.
  • Using the tip of a 'bobby pin' or hair slide and dip it into a yellow polish, then dab it onto the centre of the nail to create a small circle to create the stigma of the flower. (I believe that's what it is called but please correct me if I'm wrong). I used O.P.I Nail Lacquer in Fiercely Fiona.
  • Then using either another bobby pin/hair slide or a tooth pick (a tooth pick creates a more fine line and is easier to use for this detail but I didn't have any left so I used the hair slide) create flicks/lines coming out of the centre circle to create the petals of the daisy. I used Natural Collection Nail Polish in Nail Tip Whitener.
  • Then seal the design with your favourite, long lasting top coat. I used Sally Hansen's Mega Shine Top Coat.
I hope you enjoyed this pretty quick and simple nail design. I really wanted to share it with you because I love it and it's so summery. I hope you re-create this look, if so let me know in the comments or send me a picture via Twitter. I'd love to see! Here is another nail tutorial I've previously done.

What are your favourite summer nail designs? Who's your style icon at the moment?

Halloween "Scary Eyes" Nails! + Tutorial

I couldn't sleep Friday night so I decided to do something fun/new/interesting with my nails! I saw a design very similar to the one above on Tumblr, and thought it looked pretty simple and decided to try it out :-) I am very pleased with the results and I have received many compliments on them, it was quick and easy to create also! :-)

  • Apply a base-coat to you nails, I used No.7's "So Smooth" Base-coat. This will protect your nails from any damage from the nail polish.
  • Apply an opaque coat of white nail polish to all of your nails. I used Natural Collection's "Nail Tip Whitener".
  • With the brush/applicator of any nail polish that is an appropriate colour for an eye, and dab it into the centre of the nail. This should create the larger circle, or "iris", of the design. I used No.7's "Stay Perfect" nail polish in "320 - Minty Fresh".
  • Then using the tip of a bobby pin or hair slide, dip it into a dark coloured nail polish, preferably black, and dab it into the centre of the larger circle you previously created. This will be the pupil of the eye. I used Barry M Nail Polish in "292 - Navy".
  • Then get a tooth pick and dip it into the same white nail polish that you used as a base, and place it on the right, or left, side of the "pupil" or the small, darker circle you just created. This will make the eye stand out and look more realistic.
  • Then use another tooth pick and dip it into a red shade of nail polish. Create lines that flick out at the ends, rather like branches on a tree, around the eye until satisfied, I did it 5/6 times. This will act as the blood vessels surrounding the eye, and make the eye seem more "scary". I used Collection 2000's "Hot Looks" Nail Polish in "28 - Hip Hop"
  • If you want to make your nails look more detailed then use a peachy colour and place that, with a tooth pick, alongside the red colour you applied beforehand. This will add shading to the nails, and again make them look more detailed and realistic. I used Barry M Nail Polish in "318 - Peach Melba".
  • Then apply your favourite top-coat. I used No.7's "Stay Perfect" Quick drying top-coat.
  • Then you should have Halloween ready nails :-)
I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy nail tutorial and I'd love to hear if you wanted any more tutorials? Or any other requests, just leave them in the comments below! Thanks :-)
